KARACHI, Dec 29: The special court of federal anti-corruption and emigration, Karachi, on Thursday imposed a fine of Rs30,000 each on two men intending to travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on forged documents.

The Federal Investigation Agency had arrested Zakirullah and Mohammad Mumtaz at Karachi airport on Aug 14 shortly before their departure and booked them under the Emigration Ordinance.

According to the verdict, the convicts would have to undergo one-and-a-half-month imprisonment if they failed to pay the fine.

Remand extended

The judge in charge of the anti-terrorism court-II extended the physical remand of a suspect till Dec 31 in the rummy club blast case.

According to the prosecution, a bomb blast took place at the entrance of the rummy club in Ghaas Mandi on April 21 that left 22 people dead and many others wounded.

On Thursday, the case investigation officer produced the suspect, Umer Baloch, in court and sought extension in his remand citing that some witnesses were willing to identify him in an identification parade.

The police claimed to have arrested Umer Baloch on Dec 23.

Another suspect, Mustafa Rehman Orakzai alias Commando, has been in judicial custody.

The CID claimed to have seized 20 kilos of explosives and illegal weapons found in the possession of the suspects.

The case was registered at the Napier police station under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 324 (attempt to commit premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 4/5 of the Explosive Substance Act read with Section 7 of the Anti-terrorism Act.
