Unprovoked fire claims child`s life

LAHORE, Dec 26: A three-year-old child was killed in an unprovoked fire by a man in the busy street of Gawalmandi on Monday, police said.

Noman Naeem was standing outside a shop along with his mother in Tara Devi Street when he received a bullet to his back and suffered fatal wound. He was transported to Mayo Hospital to be was pronounced dead at arrival.

The suspect identified as Zahid Bhoonka fled the scene, Gawalmandi station house officer Hamza Nawaz said, adding that he had been released from jail three weeks ago. He said he did not know much about his conviction and criminal past.

Muhammad Naeem, victim's father, told police that he had no enmity with Zahid, also his neighbour.

Quoting witnesses, he said the suspect started firing what appeared to be unprovoked.

He said suspect's father Kala Kisai was murdered by Shahnu and his accomplices a year ago after which the family had left the place.

He said Zahid, however, returned to his old home after his release from the jail. FOUND MURDERED:

A 27-year-old factory worker was found shot dead near a brick-kiln in Sundar on Monday.

Sundar police said the victim identified as Iftikhar Ali of Nankana was employee of a textile unit.

Police found two bullet wounds on the body. Police said it was premature to establish the motive for the shooting. FOUND HANGED:

A 40-year-old kiln worker was found hanged with a tree near his workplace in Chah Tamooli in Manga Mandi on Monday.

Manga Mandi police said Mustafa of Pakpattan left workplace after saying his fellow that he would return shortly but he never returned. Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and began inquiries to establish circumstances surrounding the death. ACCIDENT:

A 45-year-old woman was killed and her six family members were injured in a road crash near Mustafa Town on Monday.

Police said Rukhsana of Ichhra was going to Thokar Niaz Baig by a car along with her three daughters-Noreen, Mehwish and Sehrish, two grandchildren and son-in-law Muhammad Naeem when the car turned upside down after hitting a pile of stones lying on the road and hit a tree.

The injured were pulled out of the car and transported to Jinnah Hospital where Rukhsana died.
