Germany to continue supporting KP`s education sector

PESHAWAR, Dec 18: Germany has pledged to continue support for education sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by providing furniture, books and sports articles to schools and funding the repair of damaged classrooms and construction of additional rooms.

This was stated by country director KFW, a German government-owned development bank, Dr Janke at a ceremony marking the up-gradation of the Government Girls Middle School, Asia Park, under the project of Debt For Education (DFE) Swap-II here the other day.

The ceremony was attended by provincial minister for elementary and secondary education department Sardar Hussain Babak, secretary E&SE Mushtaq Jadoon and Project Director Swap-II Parvez Marwat.

Dr Janke told participants that the German government was extending support to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in education sector and would continue doing so for the benefit of the people.

She said under Swap-II, the German government hade upgraded 142 schools from primary to middle level, constructed 229 additional classrooms, provided basic facilities to 614 schools, rehabilitated 604 schools, provided furniture to 1232 schools and provided sports articles and books for libraries to 134 schools in the province.— Bureau Report
