KARACHI, Dec 14: A forest officer kidnapped on the Superhighway, Karachi, on Oct 12 was recovered in Tando Adam and four suspected kidnappers were also arrested in a raid jointly carried out by the police and Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) in the early hours of Wednesday, officials said.

The forest officer was posted in Nawabshah and kidnapped on the Superhighway, police officials said, adding that the kidnappers took him to Tando Adam. The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs20 million for his release during negotiations with his family, they added.

The Anti-Violent Crime Cell and the CPLC officials claimed that they managed to recover the abducted forest officer by tracing phone calls.

The suspected kidnappers — Faiz Mohammad Jamali, Mohammad Jumman, Sanaullah Abro and Kareem Dino — were arrested from the house where the victim had been kept, the police said.

The suspected kidnappers’ group was said to be behind various kidnappings for ransom cases between Karachi and Kashmore.

The group was also allegedly behind the kidnapping of a teenage boy who was abducted on Sept 16 in an Aziz Bhatti locality of Karachi, the police added.—Staff Reporter
