Two sent to jail in scouts killing case

KARACHI, Dec 12: The administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts in Karachi on Monday sent two suspects to prison in a case pertaining to the killing of two scouts.

The suspects — Abdul Razzaq and Qari Inayatullah — have been booked and arrested for their alleged involvement in the killing of Azhar Hussain and Zain Ali on Nov 27 near the Numaish traffic intersection.

The police said that the suspects were arrested on Dec 2 and the following day they were remanded in police custody till Dec 12.

The police produced the suspects before the administrative judge of the ATCs, Justice Faisal Arab of the Sindh High Court, on Monday.

The court remanded the suspects in judicial custody and directed the investigation officer to file a charge-sheet against them on the next hearing.

According to the prosecution, the scouts performing Muharram duty at the Numaish intersection were attacked when participants of a rally held by the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat dispersed.

The case was registered at the Solider Bazaar police station.

Suspect in rape case remanded

A judicial magistrate on Monday extended the physical remand of a suspect in a rape case till Dec 14.

The suspect has been arrested for sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl within the remit of the Mochko police station a few days back.

Following the expiry of his physical remand, the police produced the suspect before a judicial magistrate (west) and sought extension in his remand.

The court remanded the suspect for two more days and directed the investigation officer to produce him on the next hearing.

A case (FIR 448/11) was registered under Section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code against the suspect at the Mochko police station.
