Shujaat backs full term for Zardari

LAHORE, Dec 8: PML-Q chief Shujaat Husain on Tuesday described memogate as a fraud, and said “one person of questionable credibility sitting abroad has been trying to mislead the entire nation”.

Talking to the media after inquiring after Maulana Abdul Wahab, amir of the International Tablighi Jamaat, Husain said such attempts would fail because the nation was united to foil these.

Talking about desertions in his party, he dispelled the impression of mass exodus: “One can count the deserters on finger tips. The PML-Q is a big party and such a tiny minority of deserters will not make any difference. Even the so-called Like-Minded Group has become a political orphan and is looking to other parties.”

He said his party had not received any invitation for “talks with the PML-N”. If ever such an offer is received, the PML-Q would talk to the media before formally responding to it. About the possibility of electoral alliance with the PPP, he insisted that all parties would go into elections independently.

President Zardari has been elected for five years and he must complete his term. After his term, the PML-Q would go into elections independently, he added.
