Lashkar-i-Jhangvi denies hand in Afghan blast

PESHAWAR: Militant group Lashkar-i-Jhangvi al-Alami (LJA) denied on Thursday it was involved in the Kabul suicide attack and condemned the carnage.

At least 55 people were killed and scores injured in the attack outside a shrine in the Afghan capital. Another four people died in a bomb blast in the Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif the same day.

A man claiming to be a spokesman for the LJA and identifying himself as Abu Bakar Mansoor reportedly called some media outlets hours after the bombings to inform that the Kabul attack had been carried out by his group.

However, a person, purported to be a representative of the LJA, told Dawn by phone on Thursday that enemies of Pakistan and Afghanistan were behind the bloodshed.
