Two killed on road

GUJAR KHAN, Nov 29: Two persons lost their lives during different road accidents in Gujar Khan.

According to the police, a collision between a truck and courier service van on GT road in Gujar Khan claimed life of the driver of courier van, Rana Maqsood resident of Okara.

Mohammad Arbi, resident of Mohra Salial, going towards Kallar Syedan, died when his motorbike skidded off the road and fell into a roadside ditch. — Correspondent

Man murdered

ISLAMABAD, Nov 29: An aged man was murdered in capital’s posh area on Tuesday, police said.

The incident took place at the Faisal Market in F-7/1 where Bashir Khan attacked sleeping Dyar Khan, 60.

The attacker hit the victim’s head with stone and baton several times. Screams of the victim caught attention of the shopkeepers who rushed to the spot but before their arrival the attacker had killed him. However, the shopkeepers caught Bashir Khan and handed him over to police. — Staff Reporter

Girl commits suicide

RAWALPINDI, Nov 29:  A girl student committed suicide in Dhoke Hassu on Tuesday night, police said.

Kulsoom Sadiq, a BA student, plunged into distress after being scolded by her mother over a petty issue. She went into her room and hanged herself from the ceiling fan.

When she did not come out of the room, her mother went inside and found her hanging. The body was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem.

Meanwhile, a widow was shot and injured by her son over a domestic dispute in the Westridge police area on Tuesday.— Staff Reporter

Muharram security

ATTOCK, Nov 29: Three companies of Pakistan Army arrived here on Tuesday to assist the district administration to maintain law and order during Muharram particularly at the sensitive points of the district, it has been learnt.

According to Muharram security plan, three companies of Pakistan Army   would be deployed at sensitive points of Attock,Jand, Fatehjang and Pindigheb tehsils.  In addition to the army personnel, rangers would also be deployed at the sensitive points to beef up security during the holy month. — Correspondent

12 outlaws nabbed

ISLAMABAD, Nov 29: The capital police on Tuesday arrested 12 outlaws for their alleged involvement in drug peddling and robberies.

A police spokesman said the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in theft of vehicle’s gas kits.

Likewise, Tarnol police arrested a man after recovery of a 30-bore pistol from him.

Similarly, Sabzi Mandi police intercepted a man on suspicion and recovered an 8MM rifle from him which led to his arrest. The police also arrested two persons for possessing a 30-bore pistol and hashish weighing 500grams.

The Secretariat police arrested a man after recovery of a 12-bore gun from him, while two other persons were arrested and recovered 19 liquor bottles from them.

Separate cases were registered against the arrestees and further investigations were in progress.

Earlier, the police during a crackdown arrested 105 outlaws including 32 proclaimed offenders and 73 court absconders during the last three weeks.

Similarly, the police also raided various gambling dens and arrested 26 gamblers and recovered stake money and other items used in the gambling. Meanwhile, 14 persons were also arrested for their alleged involvement in sex trade and immoral activities.— Staff Reporter
