Govt imposes ban on pillion riding in Karachi

KARACHI: The Sindh government has once again decided to impose a ban on pillion-riding in Karachi after fears of terrorist attacks in Muharram.

The ban was to be implemented from Friday morning and a notification in this regard would be issued today.

Sindh Interior Minister Manzoor Wasan told DawnNews that the decision was made after reports that terrorists would try to disrupt peace in the city during the holy month.

Wasan said initially the ban would be in place for 10 days.

The ban would not be applicable on women, children under the age of 12 years, senior citizens, disabled persons, journalists, personnel of law enforcement agencies in uniform and employees of essential services.
