‘Robbers’ kill trader

LAHORE, Nov 24: Two ‘robbers’ gunned down a 28-year-old trader and injured his younger brother during a shop robbery and fled ‘empty-handed’ in Mohafiz Town of Chuhng on Thursday.

A police official said two armed men stormed into a general store and held Bilal and his brother, Shahzad, at gunpoint. Their third accomplice stayed outside the shop. He said the suspects opened fire on the two brothers when they tried to signal their employee who was entering the shop and escaped on a motorcycle without looting anything.

The injured brothers were taken to Jinnah Hospital where Bilal, a father of two, was pronounced dead while the condition of Shahzad was stated to be out of danger.

The police official inquiries from Bilal’s employee and some area shopkeepers established that some unidentified armed men had visited the shop twice last month.

He said Bilal had started his business in Mohafiz Town some time ago.

Victims’ father Muhammad Shafi said they had no dispute or enmity with anyone.

FOUND DEAD: The body of a seven-year-old girl was found at a desolated place on Chandraiy Road in Kot Lakhpat on Thursday.

The police shifted the body for autopsy and registered a murder case against unidentified killer(s).

The Kot Lakhpat station house officer said it appeared that the girl was administered something with the help of a drip as officers at the crime scene spotted its marks on her arm. He said a post-mortem examination would establish the exact cause of her death.
