Hey day for mobile snatchers in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD, Nov 21: Bandits struck in the city at three separate places on Monday, killing a teenage boy and looting around 35 to 40 tolas of gold and injuring a man and his daughter.

Three armed bandits looted a cell phone from a teenage boy, Idrees Umrani son of Ghulam Hussain Umrani in Talab No-3 area within the jurisdiction of Phulelli police station in broad day light.

The boy resisted the attempt and was fired upon. He died on the spot while bandits fled.

Area people burnt tyres and forced shopkeepers to pull their shutters in protest. No case has so far been lodged.

In another incident four armed men barged into the house of a Hindu family in Journalists Colony in small hours of Monday within the jurisdiction of Baldia police station, held them hostage at gunpoint and looted 35 to 40 tolas of gold, some prize bonds, Rs5,000 cash and three cell phones.They then went upstairs and broke open the door with an instrument, alerting the family living there. When they entered the house its owner, Syed Ghulam Abbas Shah fired on them. The dacoits also returned the fire, hitting Shah and his daughter Shazia. They were removed to hospital where their condition is stated to be out of danger. FIR is being lodged.

Two gunmen, in the third incident, intercepted a woman, Nusrat Jehan and her son Faizan who were returning from Latifabad, under the flyover in the area of GOR police station. They deprived hem of jewellery and woman's purse.

Two policemen, Imran and Sabir — who were on duty from Makki Shah police station — saw that robbery was being committed. They challenged the bandits, who fired on police. Policemen returned the fire, hitting one dacoit, who was later identified as Imtiaz Jatoi, a resident of Qasimabad. He has been arrested. His accomplice fled.

DIED: Samiuddin, son of transporters' leader Haji Asmatullah Mehsood, succumbed to injuries in a hospital on Sunday night.

Asmatullah was under treatment in a private hospital in Karachi, according to his another son. So far no case has been lodged regarding the incident which occurred on Sunday when both father and

son were fired upon outside their office by a group of persons, who were raising some construction on a piece of plot within the jurisdiction of Hatri police station.
