‘Three TTP men among 17 held’

LAHORE, Nov 16: A local news channel on Wednesday reported that around 17 suspected terrorists, including three Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commanders, were arrested by law-enforcement agencies from three cities of Punjab.

However, Punjab Operations DIG Sohail Khan denied the arrests, saying police were not involved in any such operation.

The channel further reported that several cell phones and laptops were also seized from the suspects who were taken into custody from Lahore, Multan and Okara.

The arrested TTP commanders are identified as Qari Muhammad Ashraf, Dr Abdul Khaliq and Mohammad Sarfraz.

Ashraf is said to be a close accomplice of Dr Usman, who was accused of involvement in 2009 attack on the GHQ.
