Guard killed as gun `goes off `

LAHORE, Nov 16: A 33-year-old security guard was killed when his gun went off accidentally in D–Block of Faisal Town on Wednesday.

Quoting witnesses, Faisal Town police said the weapon of Waleed Ahsaan, of Jhelum, went off when he slipped in the washroom, leaving a deep bullet wound to his belly. He was taken to Jinnah Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The police shifted the body for autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of his death.

ROBBERIES: Robbers took away cash and valuables worth Rs1.1 million from two houses here on Wednesday.

Three armed men stormed into the house of Farooq in Chuhng police limits and looted cash, jewellery and other valuables worth Rs800,000.

Four robbers barged in the house of Fazal Din in Raiwind City police limits and made off with cash and valuables worth Rs300,000.

Two gun-toting men entered the shop of Hanif in Gawalmandi and looted Rs50,000 and a cell phone.

Two robbers deprived Riaz of Rs150,000 in cash and a cell phone in Badami Bagh police jurisdiction while as many armed men looted Rs50,000 and a cell phone from Jameel in Harbanspura police limits.

Two armed men stopped Khadim in Baghbanpura police limits and looted 20,000, a cell phone and his motorcycle.

BODY FOUND: Mughalpura police found the bullet-riddled sack-packed body of a young man near UET's Gate No 1 on Wednesday.

Police said unidentified person(s) murdered the man, appeared to be in 40s, and threw his body outside the university.

The body was shifted for an autopsy and a case was registered.
