Celebratory firing claims life in Karak

KARAK, Nov 10: A youth died after being hit by gunshots fired during a wedding function in Hassanabad Latamber area here on Wednesday night.

Police said Bughdad Shireen of Ganderi Khattak suffered bullet wounds as a guest, Asmatullah, fired in the air in jubilation but lost control over his gun.

They said the firing victim was taken to district headquarters hospital, Karak but he died of critical wounds, adding the ‘killer’ fled after the incident.

Hameedullah, uncle of the deceased, registered a case with Latamber police station against Asmatullah. Police began investigation but failed to arrest the accused by night.

JOINS PTI: Noted political and social activities from Karak district will formally join Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf today (Friday) in the presence of party chief Imran Khan during a news conference in Islamabad.

District president PTI Altaf Qadir Khattak told reporters here on Thursday that member of Khattak Ittehad Major (r) Abdul Marjan, former candidate for tehsil nazim Hanifullah, former principal Inyatullah, social workers Zafruallah and Israr Khattak, noted poet Shamsuz Zaman Shams of Latamber, government contractor Sajjad Iqbal, former bank manager Nazeef Khan and notables Abdul Wahab, Muhammad Abbas Khan and Rab Nawaz would join the party.

He further said former director general Intelligence Bureau Masood Sharif Khattak would also announce joining PTI during the news conference.

Mr Khattak claimed that a large number of political leaders and workers were in contact with district office-bearers of PTI, adding that political landscape of the district would completely change over the next few weeks.

He said PTI leaders and activists would leave for Islamabad in large numbers, adding that Imran Khan would soon visit Karak to address a public meeting.

He said PTI had completed its re-organisation at union council level in Karak and added that new leadership had emerged.

Mr Khattak said the Lahore public meeting of PTI had completely changed the country’s political scenario and that people had decided to bring about a revolution. He asked the rulers to step down for failing to deliver.
