Realtor killed, father injured

LAHORE, Oct 26: A 28-year-old property dealer was killed and his father, a railway employee, suffered injuries after two unidentified people opened fire on them at their doorstep in Atif Park New Bhohiwal early on Wednesday.

The motive for the attack was said to be some property dispute.

Shalimar police said two assailants first invited victim Waqas and opened fire after getting into an argument.

The victim's father identified as Khalid Baig also suffered gunshot wounds when he tried to rescue his son.

The suspects fled the scene while the injured were rushed to hospital where Waqas succumbed to his wounds.

The family told the police that two youngsters had been visiting the victims' residence for the last three days and were asking about Waqas who remained absent from home at the time of their visits.

Shalimar SHO Muhammad Younis said according to family Waqas had developed a property dispute with his maternal uncle and others.

He said police seized a licenced pistol of the suspects which dropped accidentally at the spot.

SUICIDE: A 35-year-old realtor shot himself to death after failing to pay borrowed money worth Rs30 million in Eden Villas of Model Town on Wednesday.

Liaquatabad police said Muhammad Aleem was spotted dead in his room with a single gunshot wound and the weapon.

Quoting the family, the police said Aleem, father of a daughter, was disturbed owing to slump in property business and serious financial constraints. Police broke open the room's lock.

Police said the victim had to pay Rs30 million to different parties and some people had to make payment to him.

Police said a post-mortem examination would be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
