Bullet-riddled body found in Memon Goth

KARACHI, Oct 26: A young man was found shot dead in a desolate place near Memon Goth on Wednesday, police said.

They said the body of the young man, aged around 26 years, was found within the remit of the Khokhrapar police station.

He was shot in the head twice from a very close range. He was clad in a pair of trousers and a shirt.

The police said that it appeared that the victim was kidnapped and subsequently killed somewhere else as there was no blood or spent bullet casings at the crime-scene. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.

Later, the body was sent to the Edhi morgue for want of identification.

No FIR in connection with the murder was lodged till late in the night.

Youth dies in road accident

A motorcyclist was killed in a traffic accident on Mauripur Road on Wednesday, police said.

They said 28-year-old Khawar Khan was riding his motorcycle (KEL-9864) when a dumper truck (TKW-922) hit the two-wheeler near Baldia No 3. The motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries and died on the spot.

Following the accident, enraged people set the dumper truck on fire. However, the police and fire tenders reached the scene and managed to douse the fire.

The police claimed to have arrested the dumper driver from the scene. The victim was resident of Musharraf Colony.

Man commits suicide

A middle-aged man committed suicide within the remit of the Manghopir police station in the early hours of Wednesday.

Police said 57-year-old Shahul Haq, a worker at a poultry farm in Manghopir, hanged himself from the ceiling of the farm.

They said he had divorced his wife a few months back and his daughter had moved with her mother.

They said that apparently he was depressed as his daughter opted to go with her mother. He was a resident of North Nazimabad.

The police said that he had earlier attempted to commit suicide but failed.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
