ISLAMABAD: United Nations Agency for Human Settlement (UN-HABITAT) will provide 33,000 shelters to address the growing housing problems of flood victims in Pakistan.

The agency took up the challenge during last year's flood and developed technical housing guidelines and this year too,  is committed to help the people in need and ensure better housing for them.

A UN-HABITAT official on Tuesday said basic community infrastructure requirements will be addressed to promote sustainable rehabilitation at a community level.

The official said that communities will be encouraged to take part in the rehabilitation process.

He said UN-HABITAT is currently providing technical assistance to UNHCR funded shelter project being executed by six implementing partners.
