Bogus degree LDA official sacked

LAHORE, Oct 20: The Lahore Development Authority on Thursday terminated the service of its project director (information technology) for allegedly holding a fake degree.

The LDA management also got registered a case against him after an inquiry found that his degree was bogus.

Officials told Dawn that project director (IT) Mansoor Butt, who also had additional charge of LDA director (one-window operation), was appointed in August 2009 by the then director general Umar Rasool. At the time of his appointment, he (Butt) attached an attested copy of his BCS (Bachelor in Computer Sciences) degree to prove his suitability for the post.

Officials said LDA director general Abdul Jabbar Shaheen received an application against Butt’s degree about 15 days ago. He appointed additional director general Hafiz Ehsan-ul-Haq as inquiry officer to probe the matter. Haq sent Butt’s degree to the University of the Punjab for verification and the university said Butt’s degree was fake.

As a result, officials said, Haq recommended termination of Butt’s service and registration of a case against him.

Finally, the LDA management terminated Butt’s service and got a case registered against him with Johar Town police.
