Palijo calls for strike on 21st if SLGO passed

HYDERABAD, Oct 11: Awami Tehreek president Ayaz Latif Palijo has said that a complete shutter down and wheel jam strike would be observed in Sindh on October 21 if the provincial assembly passes local government system bill in its October 20 session.

AT workers would lay a siege to houses of those voting in favour of bill, he told a news conference at his residence here on Tuesday.

He urged the nationalist and pro-Sindh forces, members of the civil society, traders, lawyers and transporters to show unity and ensure success of strike.

Mr Palijo said that this strike would prove to be the last nail in the coffin of anti-Sindh reconciliation policy. He said that if government took any action to thwart or sabotage the strike then a civil disobedience movement would be launched.

He said that AT would support all nationalist parties in their action against proposed bill.

He paid tributes to PPP MPAs Imdad Pitafi, Imran Leghari, Nasrullah Baloch, Humera Alwani, Ayesha Khoso, Shaharyar Mahar, Javed Shah, Fayyaz Bhut, Agha Taimor and Dr Sikandar for showing courage and opposing the bill.

He said that their fellow MPAs should also prove their honour by voting against the bill.

He said that Sindh was passing through a critical phase and rulers were indulging in bargaining to get a dictator's system passed through the Sindh Assembly.
