Child recovered, abductors held

PESHAWAR, Oct 8: Police claimed here on Saturday to have recovered a three-year-old boy, who was kidnapped five days ago, and arrested the alleged kidnappers.

Police said that the child, Usman, was kidnapped when he was playing with other children outside his house in Alif Khan Kallay on Oct 3.

The kidnappers had demanded Rs1 million for his release but his father instead of paying the money kept police informed about the situation, they said. Police traced the cellular phone number of the kidnappers and arrested them during a raid in Katlang area of Mardan district.The child was recovered from the house of Haji Akbar while two other kidnappers Baz and Zakir were arrested during the raid, police claimed. One of the arrested accused was neighbour of the child's family, they said.

EXPLOSIVES: Police also claimed to have recovered a large number of explosives in two different actions in the limits of Matani police station. Following a tip-off, police recovered 13 hand grenades, eight kilograms explosive material, 77 detonators, six fuses, one grenade propeller, four yards wire at Janay Khwar while six kilograms of explosives were recovered at a short distance from the site, Capital City Police Officer Imtiaz Altaf told a press conference here on Saturday.

He said that in another action they recovered three kilograms explosives, one rocket launcher with two shells, two remote controlled bombs, 16 batteries of different kinds, three remotes, five cartons of pellets, 50 electric and non-electric detonators from Garhi Khwar area.
