Protest against outages PPP mulls treason case against Sharifs

LAHORE, Oct 5: The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is consulting legal experts to get a treason case registered against the Sharif brothers for instigating their workers to attack the public property during loadshedding protests.

“The Sharifs have committed treason by inciting workers to attack the public property,” PPP Punjab President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich said and added the decision to get a case registered against PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif would be taken after consulting legal experts.

Flanked by Samiullah Khan, Usman Malik and Dr Fakhruddin, Mr Warraich criticised Shahbaz Sharif for “not accepting Asif Ali Zardari as president of the country.”

“Why the Sharif brothers never dared to crticise Gen Zia and Gen Musharraf when they were in power or announce long march against their dictatorship. Why both are only finding faults with the democratically-elected president,” he said.

The PPP leader said the defeat in the coming Senate election was haunting the PML-N and it wanted to create a situation in the country that could pave the way for early general election.

He said Shahbaz Sharif being a health minister was responsible for dengue deaths and he (Shahbaz) and his brother could not divert the people's attention by staging demonstrations against power outages.
