BAHAWALPUR, Sept 28: The district administration on Wednesday sealed four private laboratories for allegedly overcharging the suspected dengue patients.

Commissioner Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmed said a crackdown had been launched to check overcharging by the private laboratories all over Punjab.

Rizvi Clinical Lab, Life Care Laboratory, Bismillah Lab and Shafi Clinical Lab opposite BVH have been sealed.

Meanwhile, Bahawal Victoria Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Mukhtar Hussain Syed said another 12 persons had been tested positive for dengue virus.

ARREST: The Hasilpur police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested six suspects in a case of murder during robbery.

Tasleem was shot dead by robbers during an attempt at her place at Mohallah Gharibad.

Those held were: Amjad Warraich, Waqas Warraich, Amjad Malik, Farhan Rajput and Imran Shah. Ms Farah was already arrested.

SEATS: Governor Latif Khosa has allocated seats for the students with domicile of Cholistan each at the University Colleges of Engineering of the Islamia University Bahawalpur and the Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, says a press release issued by the IUB public relations office on Wednesday.

IUB Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Mukhtar has welcomed the governor’s decision.

Nepal activist: None of the universal religions allows gender discrimination, says Nepalese critic and human rights activist Dr Rohat Kumar at a function organised by the Cholistan Development Council here on Wednesday.

Dr Kumar said his claim was based on the established fact that both men and woman enjoyed equal status as a human being.

“It’s not important to be a man or woman as neither of them is born of his or her own will but the basic point is that all men and women were born independent human beings.”

He said discriminatory treatment was meted out to the women and this led to a division weakening the people. He said concerted efforts and education of women were two key factors that could ensure rights of women.

Dr Kumar said a struggle was needed for the women’s rights to inheritance and consent marriages in society.

MNA Baleeghur Rehman, who was the chief guest, said women’s inheritance rights in father’s property and consent marriages were two main issues which demanded special attention. He said: “We can seek guidance from our Islamic teachings whichshould be strictly adhered to by the people.”
