Robber caught

MURREE, Sept 27:  An Australian couple who was robbed of $100, 000, a precious camera and two costly mobile phones by a robber while hiking on a track near Jheeka Gali here, got the belongings back as police arrested the culprit.

Allen Renard and Team Phillip filed a complaint with Murree police regarding the mishap. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Murree, Abbas Majeed Marwat immediately formed a team and after 36 hours arrested Ameer Gul, a resident of Kali Mitti who had recently migrated here from Mardan recovering all the robbed valuables along with the looted cash.

ASP Murree said that a sketch was made of the robber as told by the couple and police cordoned off the areaand when the culprit returned to collect the looted things from the jungle where he hid them, police arrested him. — Correspondent

Drug store looted

TAXILA, Sept 27:  Five dacoits looted a drugs store located at main bus stand on GT road in limits of Taxila police station on Monday.

Police sources said that five men equipped with pistols stormed Shaukat medical store around 4.00pm on Tuesday and making, the owner as well as two customers at the shop, hostage at gunpoint fled away with cash worth Rs0.3 million. Taxila police registered a case against five outlaws and started investigation.— Correspondent

Rabies Day

RAWALPINDI, Sept 27: Rescue 1122 on Tuesday observed World Rabies Day in the district to create awareness among the masses against a neglected and fatal yet preventable disease -- rabies.

It dealt with 120 animal rescue emergencies in the District that’s why Community Training Wing of Rescue 1122, Rawalpindi with collaboration of Shifa International Hospital has started education on disease rabies that usually victims get from the bite of a rabid animal like dog, cat, bat, and fox.

The trained team of Rescue 1122 Community Training Wing gave training to people focusing on preventive measures of Rabies after a possible exposure includes vigorous washing of the wound thoroughly with soap and plenty of water for 10-15 minutes and seeking medical attention immediately, use of appropriate antibiotic to prevent wound sepsis and suturing it should not be dressed or bandaged unless necessary, active immunization with anti Rabies vaccine as per doctor’s advice, and measures to prevent the spread of Rabies.

During the lecture, Ms Deeba Shahnaz, Emergency Officer, Community Training told the participants that a good citizen should teach children never to handle unfamiliar animals wild or domestic even if they appear friendly.

They should not handle feed or unintentionally attract wild animals with open garbage, litter, never adopt wild animals or bring them into their homes. — A Reporter
