Doctor kidnapped, released

RAWALPINI, Sept 26: The additional medical superintendent of Social Security Hospital, Islamabad, who was abducted by some people including two policemen and later released, has lodged a kidnapping case against the accused.

Dr Mohammad Saeed Elahi said he was sitting in his private clinic at Dhoke Matkial when two personnel of Abbottabad police identified as Ibrar Shah and Saeed Ahmed along with Dr Mohammad Izhar and some other persons came there and took him away.

The alleged kidnappers told the doctor that he was wanted by the Abbottabad police in a theft case.

Later, he was released as the case turned out to be a fake one.

Dr Elahi said he had appeared as a witness against Dr Izhar in a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) case due to which the latter tried to frame him.

Dr Elahi filed a petition with the court of sessions judge Rawalpindi seeking registration of a kidnapping case against the doctor, two policemen and the other persons.

Investigating officer Inspector Khan Shabbir said the police would summon the two police personnel and the doctor to investigate them as they had been nominated in the kidnapping case as prime accused.

“Police would also investigate the role of private persons in the kidnapping of the doctor.”  He said the police officials would also be proceeded against for registering a fake case against the doctor.
