Four LI men killed in Tirah blast

LANDI KOTAL, Sept 23: Four militants were killed in Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency on Thursday night after a time device fitted in their vehicle went off, an official in Bara administration said.

The official said the dead were activists of banned militant outfit, Lashkar-i-Islam. A local source in the outfit, however, didn’tconfirm the incident. No group claimed responsibility for the blast.

Lashkar-i-Islam is at war with the Taliban and Zakhakhel tribal lashkar in Tirah Valley.

SUSPECTED MILITANT HELD: A suspected militant was arrested but another fled after Dadiwala police exchanged fire with them in Wanda Gulapa village of Lakki Marwat on Friday.

A large cache of arms and ammunition was also seized, police said. They said on patrol, Abbasa checkpoint personnel led by ASI Ayyaz Khan spotted two suspected militants with Kalashnikovs in Wanda Gulapa village and began approaching them.

They said the two fired gunshots at policemen to prevent arrest but one of them, Hashim Khan, was held.

Police said the other suspected militant, however, fled, adding that raids were being conducted for his arrest.

They said a Kalashnikov, two magazines and 25 bullets were recovered from the arrested suspect. They said a case had been registered against the two. — Dawn Report
