Convicted DPO shifted to Adiala jail

RAWALPINDI, Sept 22: Former District Police Officer (DPO) Sialkot Waqar Ahmad Chohan, who was awarded three-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs50,000 by the anti-terrorist court (ATC) Gujranwala in connection with lynching of two brothers in Sialkot, was shifted to Adiala Jail on Wednesday night, sources said.

On reaching Adiala Jail, he was given admitted to the jail hospital, instead of locking him up in the general barrack, sources told Dawn.

Former DPO Chohan was among nine policemen who were convicted by the ATC in a case related to the lynching of twobrothers Mughees and Muneeb.

He was driven to Rawalpindi from Gujranwala amid tight security on Wednesday night and later shifted to Adiala Jail.—Staff Reporter
