Fake VC`s resignation: police case registered

LAHORE, Sept 21: The University of Engineering and Technology has got registered an FIR against unidentified persons for sending fake resignation of the UET vice chancellor to the governor and some media organisations.

UET VC Muhammad Akram has said the fake resignation also carried his fake signature and pledged to take strict action against the culprits.

According to reports, some fraudster had faxed the fake resignation to the governor and media organisations from a PCO in Kotha Pind, Faisal Town on Sept 13. The fraudster had also used UET's letter-pad for the resignation.

Such a fake resignation was also sent to media organisations on Feb 22 last year and was faxed from a PCO in Faisal Town. Interestingly, both fake resignations sent on Feb 22 and Sept 13 have similar handwriting.

Meanwhile, the UET Teaching Staff Association has condemned circulation of VC's fake resignation and demanded strict action against the culprits.

Lecture: University of Oslo's Prof Tom Christensen has said decision-making in public sector is not always on a rational basis, instead political, cultural, geographical and historical factors affect the public choices.

Delivering a lecture on “Perspectives on Public Decision-Making Process” at Punjab University's Institute of Administrative Sciences on Wednesday, he stressed the need for creative adoption of foreign models and best practices instead of blindly importing them. He also discussed competing perspectives on decision making in the public sector.
