Theft of copper cable: army major detained

LAHORE, Sept 12: A serving army major has been taken into custody in connection with the theft of copper cable from a wagon of the Pakistan Railways.A statement issued by the ISPR said on Monday Major Ayub had been arrested.

A spokesperson for the PR police said that Station Master of the Kharian Station, Muhammad Zaman, goods booking clerk Muhammad Adnan and Muhammad Saleem of PR ET Branch had been arrested.

The PR personnel informed interrogators about the involvement of Major Ayub and Ayaz Baig and Abdullah.

The accused revealed that the stolen cable had been sold in Gujrat, the spokesman said, adding that Rs1.8 million had been recovered.—Staff Reporter
