RAWALPINDI, Sept 12: The relatives of two sisters, who were shot dead in their hostel by an enraged man in Lal Kurti about three months back, are losing hope for getting justice as the alleged killer still remains at large.

However, the police in a desperate move have now decided to publish advertisements in search of the accused.

On the request of Shah Jehan, the mother of the victims, the district and sessions judge had directed the police to submit the investigation report to the court on Monday but the latter failed to do so. Saira Naz, 22, and Saima Naz, 20, had established a girls' hostel along with their elder sister Sobia Naz in Lal Kurti. Police said the accused, Asad Ali, wanted to marry Saira but on her refusal he came to the hostel and shot dead Saira and Saima and injured Sobia on June 20.

The incident occurred when the girl's mother along with her brother Mohammad Ashraf had come to see her daughters from Attock. Despite lapse of more than three months, the police have failed to arrest the alleged killer who had been nominated as the prime accused in the murder case.

The alleged killer, who lived in Mohanpura, had been associated with the Punjab cooperatives department as a sub-inspector. Ms Shah Jehan alleged that the police were using delaying tactics to arrest the accused. She also appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan to bring the killer to justice. —Mohammad Asghar
