LAHORE, Sept 11: The City District Government of Lahore has sanctioned purchase of 45 small and big machines for accelerating anti-mosquito spray in Gulberg Town.

“The CDGL administration and the district health department have already provided sufficient insecticides, transport and technical staff to all field teams so as to carry out Indoor-Residual Spray (IRS) in all union councils of the town,” Gulberg Town Emergency Response Committee Chairman MNA Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said while presiding over a meeting held here on Sunday to review the on-going fumigation drive.

He said the spray teams would complete a third round of door-to-door IRS in union councils 31, 32, 75 and 76 of the town on Sept 13 (tomorrow). He said about 30 officials representing health, railway and special branch (police) had also been assigned duties to assist the teams in completing the third round.

Mr Sadiq said the town administration had also set up a control room (phone No.99322673) where the locals could lodge their complaints about the fumigation drive. The officials deputed at control room would also be responsible to maintain the spray record on a daily basis.

He urged the officials to maintain a good liaison with the Lahore Waste Management Company, Wasa and PHA at union council level for evolving a joint strategy to carry out spray.

He said the town administration had provided diagnostic kits at Karren hospital to facilitate the patients visiting the infirmary for dengue fever tests.

FINED: A special monitoring team of the CDGL visited as many as 10 Sunday bazaars in the city and imposed a fine of Rs11,000 on various shopkeepers/vendors for overcharging and violating market committee’s price lists.

The team led by CDGL district officer (monitoring) Amin Akbar Chopra also compared this week’s price list of commodities with last week’s. It found a sharp increase in the price of 13 vegetables out of the total 30 and 11 fruits.

The team directed the market committee officials to have a liaison with all markets for reducing prices of commodities.
