Four US officials escape checkpoint near Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Four United States officials escaped a Peshawar motorway check point and took refuge in the US Consulate on Sunday, DawnNews reported.

The US officials during their escape tried to crush the police officials in their way, DawnNews reported.

They US officials were travelling from Islamabad to Peshawar when the incident took place.

Pakistan had imposed travel restrictions on diplomats based in Pakistan which escalated tensions with the United States.

Meanwhile, the US embassy in Islamabad has denied involvement of any US officials in the incident.

The US embassy spokesperson said that no US diplomat or officer was stopped.
