Three ‘militant’ brothers held in Torghar

MANSEHRA, Aug 20: Three alleged militants were arrested in Torghar district by security personnel, sources said here on Saturday.

They said that the arrested militants, who were shifted to unspecified location for interrogation, were real brothers. They said that security personnel raided a house in Gagai area of Torghar and arrested three brothers -- Mukaram Shah, Hikmat Shah and Afzal Shah.

The arrested brothers were wanted by law enforcement agencies in several subversive acts in Shangla and Swat districts, sources claimed.

They added that father of the alleged militants, Dornunu Shah, who was also wanted for subversive activities in Hazara and Shangla, was still at large.

Sources said that arrested militants, who belonged to Shangla, had gone underground after an operation was launched in Malakand and Shangla.

BAN IMPOSED: The district coordination officer has imposed ban on transfer of land in 53 patwar circles of Mansehra until the previous record is properly maintained.

In this connection, a circular was issued by the DCO, directing patwaris concerned to sit together at the district council hall and compile the previous record (Juma Bandi) of the land sold during the past four years.

Qazi Sajjad, personal secretary to district officer revenue, told journalists that the ban on the transfer and sale of land was imposed on the directives of Hazara Commissioner Khalid Umerzai as the record of 53 out of 113 patwar circles of the district was not maintained.

Mr Sajjad also made it clear that in accordance with the Juma Bandi the Khasra numbers were not changed but the land was transferred in the name of buyers.
