Two MQM workers booked in STP activist`s murder case

HYDERABAD, Aug 14: A murder case has been lodged against seven accused, including two activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, for allegedly killing a Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party activist in Hirabad on Saturday during a strike against restoration of district government system.

Those who had been booked under sections 302, 324, 147, 14 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code and 6/7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act included Ghalib Ansari, Farrukh Arain, Zahid Khan and four unidentified people. The FIR is lodged by Rasheed Abro, brother of deceased Dilshad Abro.

Dilshad and others were fired upon near Hirabad by a group of people while they were returning from a rally.

According to police, an exchange of fire took place, resulting in killing of Abro and injuries to four others namely Faisal Yousufzai, Mohammad Shakir, Imran Qureshi and Zamir Abro. Ghalib and Farrukh were arrested on Saturday by police.

Demonstration: Activists of the STP, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz and Sindh United Party demonstrated and staged a sit-in at Naseem Nagar Chowk in Qasimabad on Sunday in protest against murder of Dilshad.

They also burnt tyres and blocked the traffic.

They wore black arm bands and carried black flags. They raised slogans for the arrest of the murderers of Dilshad.

Meanwhile, JSQM chairman Basheer Khan Qureshi on Saturday night visited Taraqi Pasand House and offered condolences to STP chairman, Dr Qadir Magsi on the death of Dilshad.
