Bomb defused in Khyber

LANDI KOTAL, Aug 13: The Khasadar Force defused an explosive device planted along the main Torkham Road in Landi Kotal area of Khyber Agency on Saturday.

Officials said that the owner of a roadside restaurant alerted the khasadars about a hidden device planted near his restaurant. They said that possible target of the bomb was Nato oil tanker and containers, which were to be parked at the restaurant for Iftar and Sehri.

Meanwhile, political administration in Landi Kotal sent health teams to Pasedkhel area to treat local residents affected by gastroenteritis. The epidemic broke out in the area a week ago, affecting scores of local residents including women and children.

Officials said that they also acquired samples of water as local residents said that were compelled to fetch water from ponds which were also shared by their domestic animals.

The residents of Pasedkhel demanded of the administration that alongside health facilities, they should also be provided with clean drinking water from Landikhana spring, which was at a short distance from their area.
