Rs5 million jewellery heist

LAHORE, Aug 9: Thieves took away gold ornaments worth Rs5 million from a jewellery shop in Latif Jewellery Market on Ferozepur Road opposite Ichhra police station on Tuesday.

Sheikh Saeed of Chamra Mandi told Dawn that he and his staff opened the shop in the morning and spotted the jewellery missing from counters.

He said thieves broke into his shop by removing a 14-inch exhaust fan and made off with gold ornaments.

He said the incident took place either during Sehar or Iftar when security guards were busy taking meal.

He said an application had been submitted to the Ichhra police station for registration of a case.

STOLEN: Thieves took away three cars from Defence, Factory Area and outside Services Hospital in Shadman and as many motorcycles from Johar Town, Gulberg and City Raiwind. —Staff Reporter
