Two women deprived of valuables

RAWALPINDI, Aug 9: Two women, including the wife of a senior Capital Development Authority (CDA) official, were looted in different parts of the city on Tuesday. Three other persons were shot and injured by gunmen in Satellite Town, police said.

Nasir Mehmood along with his wife was returning home in R.A. Bazaar when two gunmen took them hostage. The bandits snatched gold rings, two earrings, bangles and Rs5,000 from the woman and fired gunshot at her husband, who, however, narrowly escaped.

In another incident, the wife of a CDA director, who was returning home in D. Block of Satellite Town in a taxi, was robbed of her gold ornaments and cash by two gunmen.

Mrs Syed Hassan Mohammad Rizvi said she was coming back from Saddar at around 3pm when two motorbike riders blocked her way near her house and pointed their guns at her.

She said the gunmen didn’t allow her to get off the vehicle and forced her to give up her gold jewellery.

The victim along with her husband went to the New Town police station for registration of a case. However, the police advised them not to insist on the registration of an FIR as it would create more ‘problems’ for the woman.

Mr Hassan said: “I was told by the SHO not to insist on registration of a case, because my wife would have to visit the district courts and sometimes Adiala Jail for identification of the culprits, if they are arrested.”

He said after efforts of several hours, he could not convince the SHO on the registration of the case.

Meanwhile, Sardar Naseem Ahmed Khan, a company owner, was robbed of cash by three gunmen who also shot and injured his three staff members. Khan said in his complaint that three persons entered his office in Commercial Market and held hisstaff members at gunpoint. He said the gunmen snatched 37,500 from his employees and escaped. However, when Aurangzeb, Aqeel and Tauheed Ahmed tried to chase them, the bandits opened fire and injured them. — Staff Reporter
