27 blind murder cases traced

ISLAMABAD, Aug 5: The capital police on Friday said it traced 27 blind murder cases during the current year, which led to the arrest of 40 persons.

According to IGP Bani Amin Khan, the ratio of cracking the blind murder cases was much higher compared to other districts or provinces. He said investigators of the blind murder cases were assisted by a special unit. This unit included computer and information technology experts who assisted the investigators in tracing the culprits by collecting evidence with the help of either the victims or killers’ international mobile equipment identity (IMEI) or subscriber identity module (SIM).

He said the capital’s Crime Investigation Agency traced five blind murders, Golra and Shahzad Town police four each, the Secretariat and Industrial Area police three cases each, while the Aabpara and Margalla police traced two murder cases each.

Sihala, Kohsar, Tarnol and Koral police solved one case each.

The IGP said a separate team was also set up to provide technical support to investigators and collect evidence on modern lines. He said the police were asked to give priority to blind murder cases and bring the culprits to book. — Staff Reporter
