Two houses looted in Mansehra

MANSEHRA, Aug 2: Armed robbers locked a family in a room of their house at gunpoint and decamped with cash and valuables worth Rs1.5 million, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place in Bosachair area here on Monday night. The police said that the armed men barged into the house of Mirdar Khan, locked the family members in a room and decamped with 7,500 Saudi riyals and gold ornaments worth Rs80,000 and other valuables.

Sources said that Mr Khan had returned from Saudi Arabia on July 30. Saddar police has lodged the FIR on the complaint Mr Khan and started investigation. However, no arrest has been made so far.

In another case at Bararkot in the jurisdiction of Ghari Habibullah police station the robbers deprived a family of cash and jewellery.

The masked robbers scaled the wall of the house of one Ilyas Mughal, held the family hostage at gunpoint and decamped with gold jewellery worth Rs350,000 and other valuables. Police have registered a case against the unknown robbers on the complaint of Mr Mughal.

DROWNED: A 14-year-old boy drowned in Kunhar River in Balakot on Tuesday.

Mohammad Ilyas, a student of Altoria seminary in Bala Garlat, had gone to take bath in the Kunhar River and drowned there.

Local people rushed to the scene to rescue him but in vain. Later, the body was recovered from Ghari Habibullah. —Correspondent
