Sabotage bid foiled in Sawbi

SWABI, July 29: Police claimed here on Monday to have foiled a sabotage bid by recovering 12 bombs, planted by unidentified persons in Shahmansur area of the district.

“We have found 12 bombs, however, our search for more bombs is continued in the area,” said District Police Officer Mohammad Ijaz Khan. He feared that more bombs might be planted in the surrounding areas. He said that police were tasked to search the surroundings and report to him immediately.

However, the SHO of Zaida police station said that Aqil Shah, a 12-year-old boy, informed them about the bombs planted in the area. The bombs were exposed by heavy rain, he added. Mr Khan said that criminals wanted to target the 500KV transmission line from Tarbela Dam to Sheikh Mohammadi grid station, Peshawar. “The bombs would have caused a big disaster as they were ready for use,” he added.—Correspondent
