Man sets niece ablaze over trifle

LAHORE, July 25: A 20-year-old girl succumbed to her burns at a local hospital on Monday.

The police said Muhammad Anwar of Hanif Park, Ghaziabad, allegedly set his niece Amina Bibi ablaze over a trifle. She was taken to hospital where she succumbed to her wounds during treatment.

Police have shifted the body for autopsy and registered a case against Anwar on the complaint of victim’s father Liaquat Ali with no arrest so far.

SHOT DEAD: A 40-year-old man was shot dead by gunmen in Green Town on Monday.

Two unidentified motorcyclists intercepted Sarfraz Ali near Hadayet Chowk, held him at gunpoint and opened fire at him. He was shifted to Jinnah Hospital by security guards of a factory where he succumbed to his wounds.

The deceased’s family told the police that Ali had no enmity with anyone.

Green Town Sub-Inspector Atta Muhammad claimed that Ali was not shot dead in street crime. He said the police had found cash, a mobile phone and other valuables on him.

Police registered a murder case against unidentified assailants on the complaint of victim’s brother, Shahbaz Ali, said the police official and added that the body had been shifted to the city morgue for autopsy.
