Police solve blind murder

ISLAMABAD, July 23: The Kohsar police have solved a blind murder case and arrested two accused who confessed to committing the crime, Dawn has learnt.

Mubarak Ali, 22, a resident of PAF Colony, went missing on March 1 and his body was found in the wooded area at Daman-i-Kaho on March 8.

The police seized the body and shifted it to hospital for pending identification and legal process. A mobile number on a visiting card, found from his body, helped in tracing his brother.

Mubarak Ali was a poshish maker by profession. Autopsy on the body revealed that he was subjected to severe torture and stoned to death.

During investigation it was revealed that his mobile was missing and it was suspected that the killer(s) took it away. The investigators put the mobile’s IEMI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) under observation, but it was found switchedoff.

Some days later the victim’s mobile phone was switched on with another SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) for a while and through which an SMS was sent to the SIM’s issuing company for free SMS service. After a few moments the mobile again switched off.

The investigators with the help of SIM traced a man, AB, who confessed that he with his friend murdered Mubarak.

On his identification the police also arrested his friend QM. The accused, QM and AB, resident of PAF Colony and painters by profession, told investigators that Mubarak was their old friend, and he had developed acquaintance with QM’s cousin and wanted to marry her which was not liked by the girl’s father.

The father sought help from QM and asked him to keep the victim away from his daughter at any cost.
