Police raid Nadra office, net bribe-takers

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, July 7: Police raided the Nadra office on Thursday on the orders of judicial magistrate Moro and arrested a sweeper, an agent and six outsiders for taking bribes to prepare the computerised national identity cards (CNICs).

One of the residents of the Bugo village, Qurban Bugo had submitted an application to first judicial magistrate Moro, Sohail Ahmed Mashori complaining that some influential personalities, including Zahid Solangi were collecting Rs1,000 to Rs2,000 from each person for preparing their CNICs.

The SHO Moro, Adam Abro raided the Nadra office on the directives of the judicial magistrate. The SHO arrested Zahid Solangi red-handed and recovered from him Rs1,000 which he had taken from the complainant, Qurban.

Manager of Nadra office Abdul Rehman Soomro said that around 1,000 people visit his office daily for getting their CNICs which is mandatory for availing financial assistance under the Benazir Income Support Programme, Zakat and other funds.

Some influential people, including those named in the FIR were not only taking bribes from poor people, he said.
