Petroleum minister suggests increase in gas prices

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Petroleum, Dr. Asim Hussain suggested an increase in gas prices on Sunday due to a raise in gas shortage in the country, DawnNews reported.

“The decision of increase in gas prices will be made by the federal cabinet. The prime minister has been informed of the situation,” said Hussain.

In an interview with DawnNews the petroleum minister said that efforts were being made to revive the closed gas fields and improve production of existing fields to meet the shortage.

“Steps are also being taken to stop misuse and theft of gas which adds to the shortage in gas,” said Hussain.
