Two men throw acid on eight of family

LAHORE, June 29: Eight members of family suffered burns after two people allegedly threw acid on them following a quarrel in Loharan Wala Khu locality of Manga Mandi on Wednesday.

The Manga Mandi police said Waqas and Rehman entered their neighbour Muhammad Shahid’s house and fled after throwing acid on Shahid, his wife Nasreen and their six children Sidra Yasmeen, Tabish, 17, Arooj, 14, Atif, Muqadas and seven-year-old Abdullah. They were taken to Jinnah Hospital where Tabish, Sidra and Muqadas are stated to be in critical condition.

Nasreen informed the police that Waqas and Rehman had a scuffle with her son Tabish on Tuesday and they threw acid on the family to avenge the brawl.

The police said locals mediated between the two sides but Waqas and Rehman nursed grudge against Tabish and his family. The police registered a case.

SHOT DEAD: Three men gunned down a 40-year-old woman over a petty dispute in Yohannaabad locality of Nishtar Colony on Wednesday.The police said Shahzad and his two brothers Rashid and Mohsin shot at their neighbour Ghazala after having a quarrel with her and fled. The mother of five succumbed to her wounds at Lahore General Hospital.

Ghazala had earlier complained to Shahzad that the drain built by them in front of her house was causing nuisance.
