Imanae case Acquittal pleas of three accused dismissed

LAHORE, June 28: A judicial magistrate at Model Town courts on Tuesday dismissed acquittal applications of three medics of the Doctors’ Hospital involved in a case pertaining to death of a minor girl, Imanae Malik.

The accused, Dr Javed Asghar, Dr Ghazanfar Ali Shah and Ziaul Hassan Bokhari, through their counsel pleaded they had been implicated in the case with mala fide intension.

Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique, opposing the acquittal applications on behalf of the deceased girl’s father argued the accused had already been declared guilty of showing criminal negligence in three inquiries held on directions of Punjab chief minister and the Lahore High Court.

He said the trial of the case was in progress and at this stage it would not be appropriate to allow the applications.

After hearing both sides, the magistrate rejected the applications and fixed July 5 for framing charges against the accused.
