Survey of industries

LAHORE, June 17: The Environment Protection Department of the CDGL has completed the survey of industrial units operating near Hudiara drain.

Talking to APP, Deputy District Officer Younis Zahid said the survey was carried out on the instructions of environment secretary Sajjad Saleem Hotiana to ascertain the level of pollution caused by untreated waste released into Hudiara drain.

“The untreated effluents contain different chemicals, organic waste and heavy metals,” he added.

As many as 300 textiles, stitching, weaving, leather and engineering units are operating in the area from Bedian to Mohalanwal.
