Woman strangled

ATTOCK, June 10: A woman was strangled allegedly by her in-laws over a domestic dispute in Qutbal village in the limit of New Airport police station, Fatehjang.

The sources said here on Friday that Muhammad Islam reported to the police that the relations of his niece Ambreen Bibi with her in-laws turned sore soon after the marriage over domestic issue. He said on Thursday evening, he came to know that his niece was found strangled at her house.

At this, he reached the scene along with some other relatives. He informed the police that Ambreen Bibi’s husband Saqib Shehzad with the help of his father, brother and mother allegedly murdered his wife and escaped from the scene.

The police shifted the body to the THQ hospital but it was later shifted to DHQ hospital Attock late night for postmortem. —Correspondent

Body found

RAWALPINDI, June 10: The body of a person was found from a deserted place in Afzal Town in the jurisdiction of Airport police station on Friday.

The police sources said the preliminary inspection of the body suggested that the man, who seemed to be in his 30s, was strangled somewhere else and later thrown at the place.

A passerby spotted the body lying in the bushes and informed the local police.

The police investigating officer said the torture marks round his neck and bleeding from his ears showed that the man was strangulated. However, the police could not find anything from the body which could lead them to identify the man. The victim was wearing off-white Shalwar Kameez.

The IO said there had been no complaint of any missing person with the police however announcements had been made in the district police circles regarding the recovery of the body.—Staff Reporter

Woman shot dead

ATTOCK, June 10: A woman was killed and two other persons were seriously injured during a robbery bid in Behbodi village of Hazro police station.

Police sources said Irshad Bibi offered resistance to the two armed robbers who forced their entry into her house on Thursday evening. At this, they opened fire on her and other inmates and escaped from the scene. Irshad Bibi died on the spot while Hydar Zaman and Shaukat Zaman sustained serious injuries. —Correspondent

Services of Pims doctors lauded

ISLAMABAD, June 10: President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday lauded the services of the team of doctors and paramedics who looked after his father late Hakim Ali Zardari for over three months at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), sources told Dawn.

The team of the doctors and paramedics, who waited on Hakim Ali Zardari during his illness, called on President Asif Ali Zardari in President House on Friday.

President’s father died last month at Pims after protracted illness.

The president also appreciated the services of the nurses and the four physicians who took care of his father.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the Pims hospital management along with key health ministry officials called on the president and offered fateha for the departed soul of president’s father late Hakim Ali Zardari, says a press release.—Staff Reporter
