Newly-wed girl killed for ‘honour’

LAHORE, June 9: A newly-wed girl was shot dead allegedly by her uncle for ‘honour’ near Bagrian Chowk in Green Town here on Thursday.

The police said 22-year-old Neelam, who contracted marriage with Tanveer some two months ago, was present at her parents’ house when her uncle, Zulfikar, came there and shot her dead. The accused suspected that his niece had relations with a neighbour.

The police have registered a case against the absconder on Tanveer’s complaint and handed over the body to the family after an autopsy.

Shahdara police said 26-year-old Faisal Imran was stabbed to death allegedly by his father, Mushtaq Husain, in Yousaf Park.
