Lahore Gymkhana golf ball

RECENTLY staff members (including myself) of one of the largest local banks were going on a client call at 3.30pm in car on Jail Road and were parked at a red light junction near Siddiq Trade Centre Plaza next to Lahore Gymkhana.

At that time our car was struck by a golf ball hit by a golfer from Lahore Gymkhana as there are no safety nets erected on this side of the club.

The impact of the golf ball was so severe that it shattered the rear screen and hit the head of one of senior executives, who thought she had been hit by a bullet.

The distress faced by the lady had been tremendous, as even after four weeks she is still on bed rest owing to severe headache, nausea and stiff neck.

To add to the agony, a complaint letter written by the bank to the secretary, Gymkhana, has remained unattended.

Even today when I pass through that road it gives me goose bumps, thinking that had this ball hit directly a child or an adult sitting on a motorcycle, without a helmet, he would have surely not survived.

As we narrated this incident to various people, we found out that flying golf balls, on Jail Road, is very common and yet the issue still remains unattended by the club. As a conscientious member of this society, I appeal to the secretary, Gymkhana, to wake up and take some corrective action to avoid such incidents in future and have the decency to apologise to the lady and compensate her for the damages.
