Six booked in doctor’s murder case

SUKKUR, May 27: A case has been registered against six accused on the charge of killing a local leader of the Pakistan Medical Association Dr Mehtab Qureshi. The doctor was gunned down in his clinic in Jacobabad on Thursday.

Shahzad Qureshi, brother of slain Dr Mehtab Qureshi lodged an FIR with the City police against Dr Abbas Shah, Abdul Razzaq Shah, Abdul Majeed Shah and three others. Shehzad said that his brother was killed on the charge of karo-kari.

Police were conducting raids to arrest the accused.

Sources said that Dr Abbas suspected his wife, also a doctor, of having extramarital relationship with Dr Mehtab and had divorced her sometime back. He then took revenge by killing Dr Mehtab, also.

The Jacobabad chapter of the PMA demanding immediate arrest of accused announced of a demonstration at the press club on Saturday.
